History - 2000
The second wave of modernisation
The second phase of modernisation was aimed at increasing the quality, productivity and production capacities of the technical fabrics. The most important year in this stage of modernisation was 2006 when Kordárna completed the greatest number of investment projects within one year since the commencement of modernisation after implementing privatisation. The level of these investments was EUR 20 million.
The extraordinary importance of the significant increase of the quality of cord fabrics and the decrease of production costs was demonstrated by the implementation of the Saurer twisting machines. The latest technology in cord fabric production throughout the world was introduced in the form of the modern Dornier weaving looms. The largest and possibly the most important investment project in the history of Kordárna is the DTU7 impregnation line used for the impregnation and thermal stabilisation mainly of polyester cord fabrics. The new impregnation line demonstrates to our business partners the ability and preparedness of the whole KORD Group to implement its polyester program. This program is continuing in the form of a project for the expansion of the production of polyester technical fibres to the tune of EUR 700 million implemented in the Slovak Republic.
The cur
rent position of Kordárna on the European market is significantly contributed to by the development of the sale of technical fabrics for transport belts. At present, Kordárna is the largest producer in Europe and manufactures all types and ranges of fabrics used in the rubber industry for the production of transport belts. It is a result of the development of the company's own know-how and of its investment development. Because we are currently not able to cover all the requirements of our clients, we have started construction of a further line for DTU6 impregnation and thermal stabilisation. This line will enable us to double the existing production capacities.
The production and sale of geotextile fabrics used for the building industry has an important position in the development of the business policy of the KORD Group. Special lines will gradually be built which will enable the rapid development of this production program with the aim of ensuring - within the shortest period - production and sales at the level of EUR 350 million. A new information system has been developed which will enable the efficient use of newly built or modernised technological equipment and will control and monitor the flow of material throughout the production process for all types of fabrics, from the delivery of raw materials up to their dispatch within the agreed deadlines to clients. It has been built as an effective tool for the management and financial control of the company.
After completion of this stage of modernisation, the production capacity of Kordárna will reach 45,000 tons per year.
